Each month we are going to feature differebt breeds of cats Here at www.elliotspetwarehouse.co.uk we are Australian MIst orientated but there are many more breeds out there. This months breed is the Norwegian Forest
These are large inquisitve cats always by your side.The breed appeared in Norway around 1000 AD introduced by the vikings but the breed goes further back than Norway first being seen in Turkey,Spain, Africa and Russia.
The thick insulated winter overcoats helped them adapt to the cold winters found in Norway
The Norwegian Forest is a large heavy breed, muscualr and heavy coated. It requires regualr grooming They are also territorial and need space to call their own. They enjoy ambushing toys , running around and hiding.
Being thick coated hairball treatments are reccomended when regular shedding occurs
These big built cats also need a healthy diet to maintain a healthy weight.
